Volunteer at a Science Olympiad Tournament

There are over 250 regional and state tournaments across the United States and each location needs many volunteers to help run a Science Olympiad event.

Science Olympiad is a team based competition in which teams of 15 students compete in 23 different events. The events are lab, research, and engineering based. Students are challenged in their skills and knowledge across the scientific spectrum; biology, chemistry, physics, earth space science, inquiry, and engineering. In each event, students work collaborative to solve problems and learn about science.

Optics is one of the events. The event is divided into two parts: A Laser Shoot and an Optics Test. The topics are wide ranging and defined within the rules provided by Science Olympiad.

Generally, it takes a minimum of 4 people to run this event effectively. Volunteering for an event is easy. Contact a state director and indicate you are interested in helping to run the Optics event for a Science Olympiad regional or state tournament. From there, they will get back with you on additional details.
